Murderer got lenient sentence

The sentence meted out as punishment for the death of former school principal Hendrick Shai is too lenient. The magistrate could have at least have given the murderer the minimum sentence of 15 years. How does the magistrate justify 10 years for a man who showed disrespect to the court security and everybody there by killing a man in full view of everyone? Will this light sentence act as a lesson to wouldbe murderers?
