Lightning to strike twice as Ndlovu eyes ABU crown
Trainer warns Maemu will not know what hit him
Trainer Immanuel Mutavhatsindi has warned that his camp will prove that lightning can strike twice at the same place.
He was referring to the upcoming rematch between his boxer Prince Ndlovu who will meet Rofhiwa Maemu for the vacant ABU featherweight belt on June 11.
Ndlovu, from Malamulele in Limpopo, beat the Pimville based Maemu in 2011.
“I tell you, lightning will strike again on the same spot. Rofhiwa will get [a] hiding,” warned Mutavhatsindi ahead of the grudge match that will be staged by Sandile Xaka of Supreme Boxing Promotion at Blairgowrie Recreation Centre in Randburg. Maemu, who is trained by Alan Toweel Junior, last fought in March.
The assumption is that Ndlovu could be ring rusty as he last fought in April last year when he was defeated by Sydney Maluleka for the IBF Continental belt.
But Mutavhatsindi dismissed that: “People who talk about ring rusty are those who train in a classroom where desks are used as a ring. Our gym has a boxing ring. So how can he be ring rusty?
“Prince is getting quality sparring from many boxers including Xolisani Ndongeni, Prince Dlomo and Jasper Seroka. We are looking beyond Rofhiwa. The man we are gunning for is SA and IBF Continental champ Azinga Fuzile.”
