Niang has unfinished business in top league

Star’s experience crucial in play-offs

Stellenbosch FC’s veteran striker Mame Niang has vowed to do everything to help the Cape side clinch promotion to the Absa Premiership, saying he has “unfinished business” in the top flight.

“I have unfinished business in the PSL. I will do anything to help the team win promotion,’’ promised Niang, who scored five goals in 10 games for the “Stellies”.

“I am thankful to the coaches for believing in me. I should do this by repaying their faith in me by scoring goals.”

The Senegalese striker left these shores last year after a brief spell with Mamelodi Sundowns to play for Greek side Athlitiki, where he spent six months before moving to Norway.

“My experience will play an important role in the play-offs. We have many youngsters in the team who are hungry to play in the top flight and that helps us because when you have committed players, it is easy to win,” added the ex-Moroka Swallows marksman.

Stellies begin their promotional play-off campaign against the PSL team that will finish 15th after Saturday’s last round of Premiership fixtures.
