Outcast Luc faces fresh challenge

Eymael must get new work permit

Polokwane City interim coach Bernard Molekwa will be in charge in their last match against Cape Town City at Peter Mokaba Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Rise and Shine head coach Luc Eymael is back at the club, but as reported by Sowetan this week he has not been allowed to train the team.

City and Eymael have been at loggerheads since he resigned in March and joined Bloemfontein Celtic a day later.

He was ordered by the PSL’s dispute resolution chamber to return to City and after initially refusing, he went back to the club a week ago.

City, however, have confirmed through their chief operations officer Tincy Tema that there are still unresolved issues between Eymael and the club.

“We knew there would be questions about the coach, but this matter is beyond me,” said Tema at the club’s press conference at Palmfontein, Polokwane, yesterday.

“It’s a matter that is being handled by the chairman [Johnny Mogaladi]. It is between the chairman and the coach,” said Tema.

“Unfortunately, I will reserve my comment. Maybe with regards to who will be coaching [on Saturday], you will appreciate that we have an interim arrangement in the team.

“When [Eymael] left, I think in the middle of the season, there is someone who has always been coaching [Bernard Molekwa]. The same person will be coaching the team on Saturday. Mr Molekwa will be sitting on the bench.”

Eymael is expected to meet Mogaladi on Monday. There are claims that the Belgian has apologised to the club for claiming that his life would be “in danger” if he went back.

Sowetan can also confirm that further complicating matters for Eymael is that he has been told by the Department of Home Affairs to reapply for his work permit.

“He received a call this week and went to their offices here in Polokwane with his lawyer. He has 14 days to apply for a new work permit, because the one he was going to use at Celtic won’t apply here, because this is a different team,” revealed our source.

Eymael has refused to comment on the situation, while Mogaladi was not available for comment.
