Sjava’s Samas outfit a real knockout

TV presenter Yolwa shows off long legs

- By Patience Bambalele

While everyone wore colourful suits and expensive tuxedos, hip-hop singer Sjava stole the limelight with his unique outfit at the SA Music Awards.

Sjava walked the red carpet wearing traditional Zulu regalia. Earlier this year, the star shocked fashionistas when he wore colourful Brentwood trousers, a leather jacket and white Omega sandals to the Metro FM awards.

On Saturday, Sjava said, he decided to be different and honour Zulu culture and his mother. Sjava was born Jabulani Hadebe in KwaZulu-Natal.

“What I am wearing today is something that people know but they do not expect it to be worn at an event like the Samas,” he said. “I am wearing this outfit to honour my mother who is a member of Shembe church.”

After winning the best produced album, Sjava said he wanted to celebrate his award by honouring his church.

“It was important for me to wear this to honour my culture and religion.

These were the worst SAMAs ever! Okay, so aus Hloni Modise, one of the organisers, we need to talk.

Why was the media confined to a small, stuffy room with no food, nothing to drink?

If you guys don’t pull up your socks, another more competent PR company should be given the reins. Shameful!

Let’s move along. The SAMAs red carpet this year was as dull as Sindi Dlathu’s social life. There really wasn’t anything that blew Madi away.

Some of the noteworthy people included Luthando Shosha, who looked like a sexy black panther in her leather dress. Stunning. Very Angelina Jolie.

Pearl Thusi looked ethereal, but pretty is boring Pearl. Where is the edgy, high fashion gorgeousness? The Miss SA finalist look is a yawn.

Khanyi Mbau looked cute but, again, a complete yawn. She changed twice, and both dresses looked like something I would find at a bridal shop in Kgabalatsane. I’m sorry love.

Bujy Bikwa looked like a couch Madi once saw in a Nigerian movie, and Nandi Madida looked like an exotic bird. Bonang was a yawn fest in red, and someone needs to tell her on-and-off make-up artist Muzi, who was clinging on to Bonang like flies to tripe, that her weave is decomposing and that she looked like an Egyptian mummy with that foundation. Jesse Suntele, you have a hot body, but showing up to an award show topless and showing off your unshaven bits was bad. Madi’s best dressed has to be K Naomi who looked absolutely stunning in a blue number. Very high fashion. Keep it up love.

The worst of the worst has to be the attentionseeking Skolopad. Stop it already, you looked like an absolute joke.
