Two BiPot bankers on the card
THE Mike de Kock yard is in very good form and his charge, the filly High Seas Beauty (3-1 at your local Betting World outlet at the time of going to press), is definitely worth a wager in Race 7, an FM 81 Handicap over 1200m at the Vaal today.
This Australian-bred daughter of High Chaparral won on debut over the course and distance last December.
The way High Seas Beauty finished off her race that day suggests she will be even better over further but in the four runs since has been a bit disappointing. All of those runs, though, were around the turn so it may be significant she is back to racing up the straight.
Jockey Craig Zackey will ride her for the first time.
There are some others with decent form and Movie Show, Magicality, The Smell Of Rain and Shimmering Sea have all done well this year and need to be considered.
For the tote punters there are two other bankers for the BiPot and other exotics in the form of Celestina in Race 2 and Flexible Fugitive in Race 4. Sean Tarry has been picking off races like fruit off a tree and his filly, Celestina, should be hard to oppose in Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1200m. This Kahal filly is much-improved recently and has quickened nicely in her last two starts.
Celestina was runner-up behind stable companion Green Plains in the Grade 3 Pretty Polly Stakes and the winner went on to finish second behind Brave Mary in the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Sprint last Saturday. In her last race Celestina was only caught late by Twelve Oaks over 1000m on the Vaal Inside track last month.
The form behind Celestina looks too strong for rivals Eurythmics and Kutamba.
Another Australian import, Flexible Fugitive, showed nice promise on debut when runner-up behind Keanan’s Rock and this Pick 6 banker will be hard to beat in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1400m.
The Wanted colt was doing his best work at the finish so the step up in distance will suit and he is likely to be smarter this time. This looks another good ride for Zackey.
