Trainer Justin Snaith could take Cup Trial

- RACING EDITOR

The Grade 1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge over 1600m at Greyville is always an exciting race and it looks particularly open this year.

Trainer Johan Janse van Vuuren does very well when raiding KwaZulu-Natal and he is double-handed in this race with New Predator and Brazuca.

It is very interesting that regular stable rider Gavin Lerena is carded for New Predator while Warren Kennedy will be aboard Brazuca.

Brazuca though is far better drawn and will not be troubled by the drop in distance so should run a decent race.

New Predator is drawn very badly in stall No 17 so Lerena has a tough task ahead of him.

Justin Snaith has his yard ticking along nicely and Bela-Bela must be in with a winning chance.

This filly has done very well at Greyville and was clearly in need of her comeback run but was still by no means disgraced finishing sixth and only 3.05 lengths behind Carry On Alice at Scottsville.

Trip To Heaven is often undone by being slow away at the start but if he jumps on terms he cannot be dismissed.

This Trippi gelding has been restricted to sprint races recently but is capable of winning over this longer distance.

Captain America is very talented and his trainer Brett Crawford won both Grade 1s last week so must be considered.

Jockey Corne Orffer will be well advised to try a start-to-finish attempt with him.

Marinaresco is at his very best on a soft track (but very talented on good ground too) and is very well drawn so should run well under Bernard Fayd’Herbe.

Snaith has a strong hand in one of the other feature races on the day Race 6, the Grade 3 Cup Trial over 1800m with Black Arthur and Elusive Silva both trying to
