News of Christopher Kubheka’s death has left his family and the television industry shattered.

Contrary to his bad boy image on television his wife Cynthia Khumalo has described him as a “church man”.

“I will miss how we used to laugh 24/7. He turned me into a comedian. He was also a man of God. I had dignity at church knowing that my man is famous as he was and he is also a man of God,” Khumalo said.

Kubheka was born in 1968 at Mofolo North in Soweto.

He was found dead by his wife at their home in Soshanguve on Monday.

Kubheka first acting role was on television drama Abafana Bamasondo, before securing roles in Kwaphela Amaqhinga before he got his big break on Yizo Yizo.

He went on to feature in other big roles which include that of Bazooka Khumba on another SABC1 series Zone 14.

His most recent role was Scar in Gold Diggers on e.tv.

Kubheka also made his mark in comedy productions as well, notably featured in comedy series Vat ’n Sit and Abo Mzala. He also featured in movies such as The Long Run and Crazy Safari.

At the time of his death, he had announced his return to music. Trompies member, Lebo Mpewa, who spoke to him shortly before his death, said death robbed him of a true fiend and a hard worker.

Bomb Productions, which produced Yizo Yizo and Zone 14, said: “Rest In Peace Christopher Gunman Bazooka Kubheka. A warm-loving and extremely talented actor. The Bomb family salutes you.”
