Exits affect Derby selection

Votes for discarded Chiefs stars will have to be allotted to other players

Kaizer Chiefs’ decision to part ways with seven players means those players are no longer eligible to be voted for in the Carling Black Label Cup.

The pre-season friendly between Chiefs and Pirates – in which fans vote for the starting 11 of both clubs – takes place at FNB Stadium on July 29.

Chiefs confirmed they had terminated the contracts of defender Siyanda Xulu, midfielder Lucky Baloyi, and strikers Camaldine Abraw and Lewis Macha, by mutual consent.

Another forward, Siphelele Mthembu, sees his contract come to an end and he will leave the club as a free agent.

Chiefs will also allow midfielder Enocent Mkhabela to make his loan move to Platinum Stars permanent. The club has also indicated it will allow Zimbabwean forward Michelle Katsvairo to leave on loan.

A statement from the organisers said: “Coaches will be credited with a Super Vote per position, which will enable them to still influence formation.

“The Super Vote affords fans that voted for players who have been released the power to re-allocate votes to their new players.” -
