THE SEAN TARRY YARD IS RED HOT

9 winners in a weekend

- RACING EDITOR

CHAMPION trainer Sean Tarry showed just why he deserves the title with a magnificent nine winners this weekend.

It started off pretty quietly with a low-key card at Turffontein, but then Tarry picked up the pace.

The first of three Turffontein winners for Tarry was Shenanigans in Race 3, with Tambalang successful in Race 4 and Goodytwoshoes in Race 9 being his other winners.

Dynasty colt Shenanigans proved that the 2000m was what he was looking for as the well backed runner proved far too good for some modest rivals and he could have more wins in his tank.

Tambalang and Goodytwoshoes both quickened nicely to win their races and the handicapper has not caught up with either of them and they can be watched for their next run or two.

The Justin Snaith yard has also had a quiet last three months but he must be as pleased as punch as his Dynasty gelding African Night Sky completed the Winter Series Triple Crown with another very good performance.

The step up in trip to 2400m certainly brought out the very best in him as he thrashed his rivals.

Bernard Fayd’Herbe had African Night Sky towards the back of the field early but was quick to set him alight and it soon became apparent that it was race-over.

Outsider Paddington did best of the rest grabbing second place from the stable companions Olivander and My Mate Art.

There was also a couple of juvenile features at Kenilworth. Rose In Bloom fought off all her rivals to pick up the Highlands Stud Irridescence Stakes for trainer Joey Ramsden and jockey Anton Marcus.

Stable companion Silver Coin was sent out favourite for the Highlands Stud Langerman but was never in the race and was well beaten.

Tarry didn’t have any runners at Kenilworth, but roared back into the winner’s box with six winners.

Tarry won the first three races on the card with Celestina, Big Bear and Visuality, all three ridden by S’manga Khumalo.

He picked it up again in Race 6 where Lyle Hewitson won on Heaps Of Fun and then captured the final two races with Matador Man and Hyaku respectively. Khumalo was carded to ride the last two but was stood down and it was left to apprentice Eric Ngwane to bring home Matador Man while Anthony Delpech rode a strong finish to get Hyaku up on the line.

As we head into the final week before the running of the Vodacom Durban July Tarry must be delighted with the form of his yard.
