Coach Luscuito is free to go but first he must resign, Leopards say

Free State bid threatens to burn fingers of another Belgian coach working in Limpopo

Black Leopards have confirmed that coach Jean Francois Luscuito verbally told the club about his intentions to leave but the Belgian did not hand in a resignation letter.

The Limpopo club won’t stand in Luscuito’s way, according to club’s spokesman Berry Ramunenyiwa.

“He has verbally told us that he wants to leave. The only stumbling block is that he has not given us a resignation letter. He signed a three-year contract which means he is still our coach. We will not block his move,’’ Ramunenyiwa told Sowetan yesterday.

Luscuito said he was in no position to comment but admitted that he does not know where he will be coaching next season.

Regardless of what Leopards say, Free State Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena has rejected claims that they were communicating with Luscuito .

“We are reading it in the newspapers that we are approaching Leopards coach... We will announce our new coach when we are ready,’’ Mokoena said.

Weekend reports suggested that Leopards boss David Thidiela was disappointed at Stars’ rumoured link with his coach and that Lidoda Duvha would demand a R2-million compensation should Luscuito abandon his existing contract in Venda.

Luscuito’s deputy at Leopards, Selaotse “Sly” Mosala, has already joined Ea Lla Koto.

It is not the first time that Limpopo and the Free State clubs are at loggerheads over a coach. In April, Polokwane City’s Belgian coach Luc Eymael was ordered by the Premier Soccer League’s disciplinary committee to return to Polokwane after he had signed with Bloemfontein Celtic. City had rejected his resignation.
