Phat Joe dumps RGB
He recently quit East Coast Radio
Controversial TV and radio personality Phat Joe has left the popular SABC1 celebrity gossip show Real Goboza (RGB).
Joe, who also recently resigned from East Coast Radio, leaves the show after a seven-year run. Born Majota Khambule, he joined RGB in September 2010.
Head of public relations for SABC TV channels Zandile Nkonyeni confirmed Joe left to pursue other interests.
She said RGB would continue to be presented by Sinazo Yolwa and David Goliath, as a guest presenter, who have teamed up for the past three weeks or so.
“The two will continue hosting the show until we make an announcement if we find the replacement for Joe.”
RGB producer Sydney Mekgwe, who has worked with Joe for many years, said he had been a valuable member of the RGB family. “He has been an excellent driver on our journey of entertaining South Africans. His professionalism, insight and engaging character kept our viewers glued to their screens.”
In a statement released by SABC1, Joe said he had fun hosting RGB. “Thank you to all the fans for the opportunity. Most importantly thank you to the entire RGB team. I will see you all in the near future. Watch this space.”
Joe was not available for comment yesterday.
