Everyone is under pressure to win for Chiefs, admits Tight

Winger believes winning the Carling Cup against Bucs will set tone for their season

Kaizer Chiefs winger Joseph “Tight” Molangoane says everyone at the club is under pressure to deliver in the new season.

The Glamour Boys have lost their shine, having gone two seasons without a trophy and Molangoane admitted that their supporters expect the team to redeem itself.

“It’s a new season and things can change. I hope everything goes well,” said Molangoane from the team’s base in Naturena, Johannesburg, yesterday.

Chiefs have been hard at work preparing for Saturday’s Carling Black Label Cup clash against rivals Orlando Pirates.

Molangoane believes that overcoming Bucs in this annual pre-season encounter will set the tone for their season.

“It’s my first Carling Cup and I would love to participate in it. Winning it will surely give us a boost going forward,” he said.

“We’ve got a good team and I believe w e were unfortunate last season, because we lost games that we shouldn’t have lost. But I think we’ve learned from that and we will rectify everything.”

Molangoane, formerly with Chippa United, also maintained that the pressure is on the whole team rather than only the coach, Steve Komphela.

“We are a team and the coach is part of it. If he has pressure, we have pressure.

“As you know Chiefs is a winning team and we all have pressure.

“We all know what the brand expects from us. We have to deliver and it’s not about the coach, it’s about us as a collective. We must work as one and deliver as a brand.

“In my career I don’t have a gold medal and I only have a silver.

“So clearly, I have to work twice as hard to get silverware and do my best for the team.”
