Rami ready to reign in Queen
She’ll play Gracious the superbitch
Rami Chuene is anxious about her debut on The Queen tonight.
The talented actress joins the stellar cast of the popular Mzansi Magic drama, playing the character Gracious.
“I’m anxious because it’s such a good show. It has set a high standard and the last thing you want is not live up to that, instead you want to go beyond.
“I can’t come with old energy. I need a new perspective in a place where things are unconventional,” she said.
Chuene got the role when she was challenged by producer Shona Ferguson to get 10 000 retweets to be cast as Gracious. She was officially announced in May when she reached that milestone.
Chuene said the character of Gracious was meaty and challenging.
“Gracious has money, she is rich, but she has no class. She has no breaks, speaks however she likes.”
Gracious wants to get in the drug business which is dominated by the Khoza family and their matriarch Harriet (played by Connie Ferguson). This sets the scene for clashes and blood spilling that will leave audiences captivated.
Chuene said she was excited to be working with a team of talented actors and crew.
Compared to her other superbitch role of Khomotjo on Muvhango, Chuene said Khomotjo would not dare cross paths with Gracious because “she would get hurt”.
Starting tomorrow, The Queen will be broadcast from Monday to Friday at 9pm
