Chilli Boys’ Dance not hitting panic button after loss

Malesela targets points at AmaZulu

Chippa United coach Dan Malesela has maintained he has a good relationship with club chairman Siviwe Mpengesi and he’s focused on doing well for the club this season.

The Chilli Boys got off to a bad start when they lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium at the weekend.

Malesela was placed on special leave towards the end of last season after a poor run, but was recalled mid-May, just more than two weeks after being put on ice.

The former Pirates captain maintained that he has put the past behind him and is aiming for a better season after finishing 13th in the last campaign.

“You know the reason I didn’t do History at school was because I thought it was talking a lot about dead people and bad things,” said Dan Dance.

“I’m one with solutions, I like solutions. If you keep reminding me of what happened back then, you are distracting me from making progress.

“I have a good relationship with the chairman, you know. But I don’t like dwelling on negative things. If I was somebody who liked dwelling on negative things, I wouldn’t have gone back to Chippa.

I was not desperate to go back to Chippa United. I already had offers there and there.”

Unsurprisingly, Malesela wouldn’t dwell on their loss to Pirates and is looking for solutions ahead of their next match against AmaZulu at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium tomorrow (7.30pm).

“We were looking at getting something from the first game and unfortunately, we didn’t.

“It’s the beginning of the league and you can’t start panicking. We have signed players and we are okay.”
