Azzie family set for big day
Inn A Million a banker in all bets
Newly formed training duo of father and son team of Mike and Adam Azzie have enjoyed a relatively successful start to the season and are likely to continue the good form at the Vaal tomorrow.
The Azzies are well represented by nine runners on the nine-race card and could be in bullish mood ahead of their trip to the Vereeniging track. Madam Secretary (Race 2) and Artax (Race 3) represent strong eachway chances. On current form both should give good accounts of themselves and are obvious inclusions in All To Come bets.
In Race 4, the opening leg of the Pick 6, the TAB Telebet MR 66 Handicap over 2000m, Houston Rocket may well complete an Azzie Pick 3. This son of Ideal World ran out of puff in a similar contest over 2400m nine days ago but will be an entirely different proposition over his winning distance. He had previously run on well to be beaten just 2.20 lengths over the course and distance on his handicap debut.
Houston Rocket finished 1.60 lengths adrift consistent Gentleman Only on that occasion but renews rivalry with the latter on 5.5kg better terms, although 4kg of that was made up of an apprentice allowance. However, he could quickly bounce back from his last run and is capable of reversing the form from a good draw.
Inn A Million could broaden the Azzie smiles by winning Race 5, a MR 64 Handicap over 2000m. He finished ahead of both Houston Rocket and Gentleman Only recently and that form could be given a boost in the preceding event.
A lightly raced son of Greys Inn, Inn A Million was desperately unlucky not to triumph via the boardroom, having been carried out at a crucial stage in the finish of that 2400m handicap, but escaped without a penalty. This slight drop in trip will not hold any fears for Azzie’s charge, who appears the best bet on the card and a likely Exotic bet banker.
Stable companions Jo Mambo and Return To Power could add to the Azzie festivities with bold showings in Race 7, a FM 66 Handicap over 2400m.
