September bloomed in August and can bloom again today

Lucky Houdalakis’s filly can make it a hat-trick

-

September Bloom could bring punters the sweet smell of success by pulling off a hat-trick of wins at Turffontein today.

Jockey Marco van Rensburg was aboard the Gitano Hernando filly for her two previous victories and she clearly runs for him and it is possible she can overcome the penalties given for the wins.

Stepping back up in trip should not be a problem and although she is carrying 60kg this time is not giving too much weight away to her rivals.

In this day of making exotic bets bankers count, The Puma in Race 3 and Open Road in Race 8 look likely candidates.

Trainer Robbie Sage had a winner on Tuesday with Boatswain and can double that up with his charge The Puma.

This Mogok three-yearold has run promisingly enough in both his starts and the penny looked like it dropped with him last time out.

Admittedly The Puma was only doing his best work late in that race behind Alwahsh but the step up in distance should suit him nicely.

Jockey Gunter Wrogemann replaces Gavin Lerena on The Puma.

Lerena could, however have the last laugh at the end of the meeting as his mount, the filly Open Road looks the best of a very moderate bunch and should win.

Open Road is holding her form well and the step back up to 1400m is likely to suit her.

Two other runners on this card worth looking at are Sir David Baird in Race 2 and Rivarine in Race 7.

Sir David Baird quickened like a good horse when winning on debut and will win more races.

His danger though is Surcharge who has won his last two starts and will not be an easy push-over. The Exacta is the way to play!

Jockey Piere Strydom was aboard Rivarine when the Var colt won at this course in June and if in the mood he should run very well over the minimum trip of 1000m.

Banker The Puma and Open Road in today’s Pick 6 and load up in other legs. Noceur and Vul Indlela, should be added to September Bloom’s leg along with Turn Back Time.
