De Kock’s charge to be Elevated
Proud Mary also looks to be a good bet
Elevated showed absolutely no signs of being unfit when cruising to a memorable 0.80-length victory on the Turffontein Inside track despite returning from a three-month rest. This son of Elusive Fort is currently the 15-2 ruling favourite for the Grand Heritage (Non-Black Type) over 1450m to be run in Race 7 at the Vaal tomorrow and worth a Win bet. In this encounter, there are no real losers, keeping in mind the fact that a losing ticket could earn you a chance of winning a house courtesy of TAB and Betting World! De Kock’s charge produced an impressive turn of foot in his last run and considering this race will be run up the straight, the No 20 draw shouldn’t prove much of a disadvantage. He will shoulder just 55.5kg and if you take note of the company he has faced over his last couple of starts then he should absolutely no trouble outrunning this lot. Elevated was only beaten four-lengths into fourth by Williams Longsword in the Cape Guineas (Grade 1) – if he can produce a similar performance then he will be very hard to beat. Jockey Gavin Lerena won five of the 10 races carded in last year’s Grand Heritage meeting. He rides the ultra-consistent Forest Fox in this Saturday’s main event and although this Paul Peter-trained gelding is unlikely to beat Elevated, he is worth a Place bet because our good friends at TAB will be paying out for six places! A boxed Exacta with Elevated could be of value considering Forest Fox is priced up at 16-1. Impressive winner of the Allan Robertson Championship (Grade 1) Brave Marry appears to be the best bet on the card when she lines up in Race 6, a (Non-Black Type) over 1000m. On recent form and under the current conditions she makes for the best banker in all bets. Not only is she the best handicapped runner in the race, but she is also currently running off a merit rating of 106. Gunter Wrogemann will retain the ride on this filly, he actually has a 100% strike rate on her.
