Double your money with Hundreds

He is a banker in all exotics

- Racing Editor

Hundreds caught the eye running on strongly from well off the pace on debut at Kenilworth a fortnight ago, and the big Dynasty colt looks a banker in all exotics and a five star Win bet in Race 4 at Durbanville today.

Supported in the betting market despite being drawn worst of all first time out, Hundreds raced rather green and was given a far from punishing ride from well off the pace by Richard Fourie. Despite all that he finished well to end up less than 1.5 lengths behind winner Spectra Force.

Now drawn close to the inside, and with the benefit of racing experience, it can be expected he will be placed much closer to the action, and even with just natural improvement should account for the field of Maidens he meets here.

My gut feel says this could be something of a Cape Derby horse, but time will tell.

Greenstreet-tractor is an obvious danger and finished three-quarters of a length ahead of our selection last time when going beyond sprints for the first time. The 1600m should be even more up his alley, but he seems likely to have to settle for minor money once again.

If looking further than that all of Peg Of Zeus, The Barry Burn, Bold Assassin and likely improver Manetheren would have to go in.

Another worth considering as a win bet and/or banker is Tiffindell, who is well weighted with 52kg in the Fillies Conditions Plate and first leg of the Place Accumulator.

In the same vein Paddington has always given the impression he will stay all day, and takes a big drop in class as he tries 3000m for the first time in the fifth.

After finishing a reasonable sixth in the Listed Settlers Trophy here 10 days ago, he may prove a little too powerful for the modest MR 70 field he encounters on this occasion if fully recovered.

A fair amount of much needed rain is predicted in the 24 hours leading up to raceday, but if the track doesn’t turn up too heavy it could be a good day for punters.
