Those seeking to honour late theatre legend Kente are just opportunists

-

Gisbon Kente was supposed to have been honoured before he passed away.

The great musician Hugh Masekela once dismissed entertainment journos when they wanted to interview him in connection with the passing of singer Thandi Klaasen.

He asked them why they didn’t interview him about Thandi while she was still alive. The journalists thought that Masekela was joking but he taught them a lesson they won’t forget by dismissing them.

Now there are opportunists who are honouring the late playwright and director Kente, who passed on 13 years ago. The journos even mentioned what killed Kente, which I think is not our business as Kente did not disclose what he was suffering from.

Why wait until a person dies and then start running around seeking honour for him? Let us honour our heroes while they are still alive.
