We need to keep kids safe from sexual predators

-

What’s happening in public schools is extremely sad, when scholar patrolmen and guards sexually violate and harass our kids.

We as parents, send our children to school to study and become responsible citizens.

It’s very shocking to hear and read that a 56-year-old sexually assaulted about 87 pupils.

As parents, we should communicate with and try to have open relationships with our children.

This could have been avoided if the first victim of such behaviour had told their parents or teachers.

Teachers and parents should also take what pupils tell them seriously.

That way we will be in a position to open cases against the savage perpetrators who turn school environments into their hunting grounds to do their evil deeds.

Bravo to the Gauteng department of education for taking critical measures and deciding to remove the school’s principal and entire senior management as they failed pupils and their parents.

They failed to put into practice what’s called in loco parentis, where teachers and principals take the place of a parent and protect pupils from anything that will distract them from their learning.

This case and other cases similar to this must serve as motivation for teachers and other stakeholders to start reporting cases of such nature and protect pupils with whatever they possess.

School environments should be where our children grow and enjoy their childhood while developing mentally and socially. We send our children to learn, and not to be sexually harassed by these monsters who should be punished for their actions.
