Intriguing fight of contrasting styles

Fuzile, Munyai to keep fight fans on edge of seats

The argument that styles make fights will be tested at Emperors Palace tomorrow night when Tshifhiwa “Atomic Spider” Munyai takes on Azinga “Golden Boy” Fuzile in one of the two Featherweight Super Four semifinals.

The 10-rounder, to be staged by Golden Gloves, will be an intriguing fight based on the two boxers’ contrasting styles.

Munyai, 32, is a right-hander whose first punch forward is a left jab. If need arises he stands and trades because he does carry reasonable power which has left 16 of his 28 victims counting stars.

On the other hand, Fuzile, 21, is a left-hander whose first punch is a right hand. He lures his opponents into a false sense of security with his lazy barbs, while painstakingly setting them up for slumberland.

He has long arms which help keep his opponents at bay.

Fuzile currently holds the SA, WBC Youth and IBF Continental featherweight belts.

In other match-ups, Simpiwe “V12” Vetyeka should live up to his moniker – big engine – against nine fight novice,

‘ ‘ The victor will be eligible to fight for actual WBC title

Lerato “Lights Out” Dlamini in the other semifinal of Golden Gloves’ two-legged series. Vetyeka, 36 – former SA and IBO banta mweight, WBA Super and IBO featherweight holder – boasts 29 wins in 32 fights.

WBC board of governors member Peter Ngatane said the winner of the series will walk away with the WBC International belt in the final in February. They will also be eligible to fight for the actual WBC title.

There will be two more nontitle fights on the card.

Supreme Boxing Promotion will stage an eight-bout card at Blairgowrie Recreation Centre in Randburg tomorrow afternoon, promoter Sandile Xaka confirmed that action will begin at 1pm.
