Moeti’s Big-3 dream

Baroka star pushing hard to attract move to one of top clubs

No matter how happy a player can be at his club, turning out for the big three – Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns – remains the ultimate dream for local players.

While others are afraid to publicly disclose their desire to move to the aforementioned clubs, Baroka midfielder Sipho Moeti, 25, is not hiding it.

“My target is to work harder and earn a move to a bigger team because age is not on my side.

“If I can just push, I believe that I can end up at one of the country’s big three teams. I wish it happens at the end of this season,’’ said Moeti.

The tricky left-winger has already scored twice for Bakgaga this season and registered one assist in the 11 matches he has played. “I am happy with how I have started the season, but to be a better player you must always try to improve,” said Moeti.

“I think when you look at my game you would see that I am better than last season.’’

Baroka are currently at the summit of the Absa Premiership table after 10 matches.

They have accumulated 17 points, which is more than half of their 28 points from last season which saw them being forced to take part in the playoffs.

“We learnt from last season’s mistakes of not focusing from the onset. Last season, we made a mistake of thinking that playing in the Premiership alone was a big achievement and we ended up taking things for granted,’’ stated Moeti, who shot to stardom when he received a yellow card for show-boating against Platinum Stars in October last year.

Moeti, however, maintains showing off his skills is part of his game and it’s hard to stop it.
