Laird and De Kock to shine

Greys Inn’s offspring look winners

- By Racing Editor

Trainers Alec Laird and Mike de Kock’s runners have been performing exceptionally well of late, and both trainers make for great bankers in tomorrow’s Vaal meeting.

De Kock features Kremlin Judgement, a promising three-year-old colt who is set to score when he lines up in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1600m on the Vaal Classic track.

Kremlin Judgement was priced up at 28-1 on in his debut outing.

He caught the eye in that 1500m contest, showing an exceptional turn of foot in the closing stages.

He came from 13th at the 400m and was only beaten 1.60 lengths into third place by Middle Path.

Of late Highveld meetings don’t end without Alec Laird winning a race or two. He saddles Ossetra in Race 9, a Maiden Plate over 1600m.

This four-year-old filly has failed to justify favouritism in her last two outings, but she can finally reward her supporters.

She doesn’t face the strongest of fields and the 60kg on her back shouldn’t deter her from leaving the maidens.

The best Swinger and Exacta bet to take on the card comes in Race 5, a three-year-old MR 90 Handicap over 1600m where Sean Tarry and de Kock feature two runners who won their maidens well. Tarry sends out For a few dollaes more and if race ready could be the one to beat.

De Kock’s charge Alshibaa in the other hand was a runaway winner on the Turffontein Inside track last time, but he will have a wide No 9 draw in this 10-horse field.
