Manzini’s goal is to save AmaZulu

Leading striker shuns glory but targets 20 goals

Despite being one of the early Golden Boot candidates with five strikes in seven Absa Premiership matches, AmaZulu striker Rhulani Manzini prioritises helping Usuthu to re- main in the league over individual accolades.

“The only thing onmy mind is saving the teamfrom relegation. Scoring goals ismy job as a striker and I am not doing that because I want individual awards. It is all about achieving the objectives of the team,” said Manzini.

“I want to score 20 goals which I think will be enough for the club to stay away from relegation. The Golden Boot prize would be a bonus for me,” added the 29-year old centre-forward who is one goal behind top-scorer Rodney Ramagalela of Polokwane City.

AmaZulu have been resilient when playing at King Zwelithini Stadium. Only Polokwane have managed to beat Usuthu at home so far this season, winning 3-2 last month.

They welcome Kaizer Chiefs at the same venue tomorrow (7.30pm). Manzini doubts home ground advantage will help against Amakhosi, citing that the Soweto giants have fans everywhere.

“For them playing at King Zwelithini is the same as playing at their FNB Stadium but we are not feeling afraid at all.”

Chiefs are still licking their wounds after they were eliminated from the Telkom Knockout by Bidvest Wits in the semifinals at the weekend, but AmaZulu’s front-man still expects them to be dangerous tomorrow night.

“They will be very dangerous because of their loss to Wits. We are up for the task and we know that Chiefs will not want to be beaten twice in a row.”
