Arrows’ Larsen fears Sundowns onslaught

But coach accepts pressure not on him

Golden Arrows’ clash against Sundowns at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday (3.30pm) appears to be a tough clash on paper.

Abafana Bes’thende head into the clash in fifth position on the log with 17 points from 13 matches, while the leaders, the Brazilians, have 19 points from 10.

As much as it appears that Sundowns have a tough game on their hands, Arrows coach Clinton Larsen insisted in an interview with the Sowetan yesterday that his team will definitely be the underdogs.

“Firstly, I’m sure the whole country saw how Sundowns demolished Baroka [4-0 on Tuesday], and that’s the strength of the Sundowns team,” Larsen acknowledged.

“You know, I feel they should be winning all their games with that score margin ... such is the depth and quality of their squad and they have the best coach [Pitso Mosimane] in the league. So yeah, it’s a tough assignment for us and we know what we are up against.”

Larsen, though, has warned that Sundowns are not going to have it all their own way.

“All the pressure is on the opponents and we will just enjoy the occasion,” he added.

Arrows welcome back Musa Bilankulu, who missed their 2-1 defeat to Free State Stars in midweek due to suspension.

Mosimane, meanwhile, said Arrows remained a difficult side to play. “They play on the break, you know the story.

“They’ve got speed and they come out quick. We need to be very, very cautious against Arrows. What else can I do? They are also on top there [on the log], so they are doing well,” Mosimane stated.
