Find value in the Marcus double

-

Three in a row? Brighteyebushytail could show no signs of ring-rustiness when he runs in Race 6 at Greyville today. / “Mighty Mercury, a three-year-old son of Pathfork ran below par in his last performance, and can produce his best effort yet when he runs in Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1000m on the Greyville Turf track today.

He was beaten 3.25 lengths into sixth place by Asian Star last time, but the positive is, that form line has worked out pretty well. It boasts two winners, Moon Shadow (who finished third) and Bedazzled Joker (who was 2.25 lengths behind Mighty Mercury in 11th place). Mighty Mercury was unlucky not to leave the maidens one run back when running on a touch too late in a 1000m contest on the Poly, merely 0.30 lengths shy of first place.

Charles Laird’s charge is the best handicapped runner in the field, and he will get the experienced Anton Marcus in the irons. Mighty Mercury is BiPot banker material in the first leg.

Marcus could be in line for a double on the card, he rides hat-trick hopeful Brighteyebushytail in Race 6, a MR 66 Handicap over 1800m. Although returning from a 108-day rest, this Dynasty colt is gutsy and never throws in the towel, with both his victories coming by narrow 0.15 lengths, plus he had a wide draw last time so that run was full of merit. Brighteyebushytail is decently drawn in stall gate 6 and could be better than his current merit rating of 80.
