No big-name to fill Siphelele void at Baroka

Star says he’s been Chiefs’ missing link

- By Sihle Ndebele

Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has revealed that the club will not replace departed star midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase with a big-name signing.

Instead, the Bakgaga boss told Sowetan they will promote youngsters from the club’s development to fill the void left by Ntshangase’s move to Kaizer Chiefs. “Ntshangase played his part. “I will not be replacing him with a big-name signing because no one can play like him. This will give our development players a chance to raise their hands,” said Mphahlele.

The Baroka boss added that the club will never stand in the way of want-away players.

“He [Ntshangase] wanted to go to Chiefs and we gave him what he wanted.”

Ntshangase was presented to the media alongside fellow newcomers Kabelo Mahlasela, Leonardo Castro and Siphosakhe Ntiyantiya yesterday.

Dishing out killer passes and giving the fans joy are some of the elements Ntshangase has promised the Amakhosi faithful.

“For the past couple of season Chiefs have not had someone who can dish out those killer passes and I am positive that I will bring that,” he said yesterday.

“I really think there has been a missing piece in the puzzle and I will complete it,’’ he vowed.

“I like the fact that the competition is stiff here [at Chiefs], it will help me not to relax. As a midfielder my job is to get as many assist as possible and score goals.’’

Ntshangase had already registered 10 league appearances at Baroka prior to his reported R2-million move at the Soweto giants.
