Celtic need a miracle, says MDC coach

Arrows running away with reserve league

- By Sihle Ndebele

Bloemfontein Celtic MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) coach Jeffrey Legetla feels their ambitions to win their maiden reserve league is no longer in their hands.

They lost 3-2 to leaders Lamontville Golden Arrows at Dr Molemela Stadium at the weekend.

After winning the top-ofthe-table clash, Arrows are now six points clear on top.

With only five games to spare, Legetla admitted that it would take a miracle for them to displace Arrows. They will have to count on other teams to beat the KwaZulu-Natal side, who are on 25 points and on course to clinch their second MDC honour after winning the 2015/16 edition.

“It is now definitely out of our hands. It was our dream to win this MDC title but now it is very tough because we lost to Arrows. We have to rely on teams like Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport to beat Arrows,” Legetla told Sowetan yesterday.

“Arrows have been consistent from the first game and it will take a miracle for them to drop some points. My boys wanted this title so badly. After losing to Arrows, you could tell that they were giving up but it is our job to motivate them,” said the coach.

Celtic’s MDC campaign will get even trickier as they next face third-placed SuperSport, who are one point behind them, at Dr Molemela Stadium on Saturday, while Arrows host struggling Platinum Stars at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday.
