Micho happy with Foster’s progress
Teen’s goal saves Bucs’ blushes, and coach expects even more from him
Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic is satisfied with youngster Lyle Foster’s progress.
Foster, 17, opened his account for the Buccaneers – a goal that salvaged a point for the Bucs against Polokwane City at the weekend.
So much has been said about Foster prior to and after making his professional debut in the goalless draw against Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium, Pietermaritzburg, four months ago.
He went on to create an assist for Thabo Qalinge in their 1-0 win over Cape Town City at FNB Stadium in their next match.
Foster then went for a trial at French side Monaco; he scored three goals when South Africa claimed a sixth Cosafa Under-20 Championship in Zambia last month, and got off the mark with a well taken goal against Polokwane City.
“Lyle had a honeymoon. Remember when he came on against Cape Town City and he assisted [with the goal]. Then he had an injury. Recuperating from injury, he went to France[for a trial at Monaco] and had doubts about going to Cosafa. We are happy we sent him to Cosafa, where he served the nation in the best possible way,” Sredojevic reflected.
He added that Foster had been hard at work at training, and the goal was deserved.
“On the 27th [of December] when we resumed training, he came back strongly and the goal was not an accident.
“He was really working hard supported by the older players. He has opened his account and I do not look where he is now, but I look, together with my technical team, where he can reach,” the Serbian concluded.
Foster is expected to join Monaco’s youth team probably at the end of the season, but Pirates are mum on the matter.
