Thobejane determined to go with leading pack

Baroka coach not throwing in towel

Baroka coach Kgoloko Thobejane has not thrown in the towel for his audacious plan of competing for the Premiership title.

The Polokwane-based outfit failed to complete the double over Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend after having beaten them 2-1 in the first round.

Chiefs staged a fightback to register a 2-1 victory at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

Following the loss, Bakgaga are down to seventh on the table with 25 points – nine behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

“We need to see ourselves in that chasing pack. Number one (Sundowns) is now far away and extending the gap,” Thobejane said.

“If number one keeps on winning, then it will be stretched even more.”

The animated mentor insists that there is nothing wrong with the team’s performance, but that it was just the results that were not going their way.

“It’s not that we are not clicking. It’s the nature of the game. That’s why we can’t say something is wrong,” he said.

After topping the Premiership in the opening stages, they have slowly climbed down the top half.

The Baroka technical team will have the entire week to prepare for their next clash against Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday (3.30pm).

“In the game against Arrows, it means we must be ready for three points. With another win we are still there. But if we are inconsistent then we will be making life difficult for ourselves,” he said.
