Is Tau ready for overseas? Legends have their say

Despite confusion over his PSL registration status, Ajax Cape Town striker Tendai Ndoro orchestrated the demolition job on his former side Orlando Pirates last night.

Ndoro provided one of the assists for two-goal hero Yannick Zakri in their 3-0 victory over Pirates at Cape Town Stadium.

Captain Mosa Lebusa netted the opener, thumbing in an exquisite header from a corner-kick in the 12th minute.

Zimbabwean-born striker Ndoro was initially cleared to play after the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) ruled in Ajax’s favour before the PSL suddenly appealed the ruling.

It is also believed that Pirates lodged a complaint prior to last night’s match, disapproving the inclusion of their former fan favourite in the Urban Warriors’ line-up.

Ajax, nonetheless fielded the centre-forward who proved a threat to Bucs’ new central defence duo of Ntsilelelo Nyauza and debutant Marshall Munetsi, who started in the place of the injured Gladwin Shitolo.

Pirates came out in the second-half guns blazing, but indecisiveness and bluntness in front of goal got the better of them.

Innocent Maela and Luvuyo Memela should have brought Pirates back into the game but they fluffed easy chances.

Just when coach Milutin Sredojevic’s charges thought they could find a consolation, Zakri completed his brace after a wonderful delivery from debutant Siyanda Zwane as Pirates suffered their first loss in the new year.

Zwane, who joined Ajax on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, started ahead of youngster Sergio Kammies at the right-back.

Ndoro, Zakri and Tashreeq Morris were also preferred ahead of Fagrie Lakay, Samuel Julies and Roscoe Pietersen.

The Buccaneers will next host Maritzburg United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, while Ajax travel to Peter Mokaba Stadium to face Polokwane City on Sunday.

Elsewhere, AmaZulu edged SuperSport United 1-0, courtesy of a second-half strike by Ovidy Karuru at the Lucas Moripe Stadium last night.
