Red-faced looks and coming up roses

- Maditaba

Madi was genuinely not excited when a friend asked her to tag along to the South African Film and Television Awards nominations breakfast last week.

Goodness, these are the same awards that subjected Madi to donuts and boxed wine last year after she made the great trek to Sun City.

Nevertheless, she went to check it out and needless to say was less than impressed by the lack of fashion sense of some of the celebs who bothered to show face.

Take actor Fumani Shilubana, pictured, for example. Madi swears she almost handed him her car keys and a tip for valet parking.

The same can be said about Rhythm City’s Mduduzi Mabaso. Goodness, Madi has seen dice players on a street corner in Alex wearing the exact same jacket, abuti.

Veteran actor Jerry Mofokeng almost went into the same waste bin, but Madi will forgive him because he’s earned his stripes in this industry.

Madi honestly did not care a bit about the nominations for the golden horn, bathong. Some people were yapping about Generations being snubbed and Madi almost choked on her celery stick. Madi thought the Saftas honoured outstanding performances. Emphasis on outstanding. Anyway, Madi loves aus Shoki Sebotsana, but girl, we need to talk. Those shoes ausi, aowa!

Our MC Masechaba Ndlovu looked amazing – from the waist up. Something about the see-through mesh thing on the bottom of the dress didn’t really scream age appropriate. Basetsana Kumalo was perfection personified in her cute pink number. Now that is how you dress up for an early morning event. Nice one nkgono Bassie.
