Plenty value on today’s Vaal card!

-

Speedy Toreador filly Ouro was an impressive winner of her handicap debut over 1200m last time, defeating Shifting Shadows by 0.75 lengths despite giving 5kg to the runner-up.

She made light work of her rivals in a 1000m contest when winning her Maiden by 4.80 lengths one run earlier. As a result, Paul Peter’s charge should be a BiPot and Place Accumulator banker when she runs in Race 4, a FM 78 Handicap over 1000m on the Vaal Classic track today.

Ouro appears above average and has a career record that boasts two victories and two seconds from four starts. She is progressive and could prove better than her current merit rating of 82.

The three-year-old will shoulder 59kg and jockey Keagan de Melo retains the ride.

She has two dangers, Celtic Lady and Madam Secretary.

Both carry 1kg less than Ouro, however, it is Roy Magner-trained Celtic Lady who makes most appeal.

She is a 1000m specialist and her last seven outings have produced two wins, four seconds and a fourth place.

Madam Secretary was beaten 0.25 lengths into second place by Takingthepeace in her latest effort and can only get better. For Quartets float the three with Lady Of The World, Levi Lady and Flaming Mad.

Torre Del Oro could prove one of the best bets on the card when he lines up in Race 5, a MR 95 Handicap over 1200m.

The son of Trippi has risen to another level since being gelded and his recent form is most encouraging.

He was beaten 1.05 lengths by Pure Blonde one run back, however, Torre Del Oro has a 3.5kg weight advantage on this occasion, plus he appears most lethal over 1200m.

Sean Tarry’s charge has also run the fastest 400m to finish in six of his last seven starts.

He is decently drawn at No 6 as opposed to Pure Blonde’s No 9 draw in this 10-horse field.

If you’re looking to go light in your Pick 6, Torre Del Oro is a worthy banker. For Quartets float him and Pure Blonde with Marmook, Zouaves and Doosra. Torre Del Oro could prove one of the safest bets on the card when he runs in Race 5 at the Vaal today. /
