Ginger Biscuit more than ready
Pat Lunn’s filly will be going for a fourth consecutive win when she runs at Greyville today.
Pat Lunn-trained Ginger Biscuit has been making a mockery of her female counterparts of late, and could prove one of the safest bets on the card when she lines up in Race 6, a FM 73 Handicap over 1000m on the Greyville Polytrack today.
She’s going for a fourth consecutive victory and if anything, her recent form suggests she is better than her merit rating of 72. She’s classy and her wide No 7 draw in this eighthorse field should not raise too many red flags considering she’s overcome wide draws in two of her last three outings.
Jockey Keagan de Melo retains the ride. The pair have inspiring form together having teamed up seven times for three wins, two seconds, one fourth and a fifth.
For Swingers and Exactas, box Ginger Biscuit with the Ultra-consistent Dennis Bosch-trained Flamenco Dancer. This three-yearold daughter of Trippi gets the services of champion jockey Anthony Delpech and will jump from an advantageous No 2 draw.
Graduate renews rivalry with Burra Boy in Race 7, a MR 72 Handicap over 1200m. The former only got into race mode over the last 300m when they last met, producing a devastating turn of foot – and wasn’t disgraced beaten just 1.75 lengths.
Graduate was an expensive R3.2-million purchase and should turn the form around, even though carrying 1.5kg more. He appears above average and considering he’s recently been gelded, Bosch’s charge could make a ton of improvement.
Burra Boy followed up with a disappointing 10th place finish at Scottsville, beaten 3.70 lengths by Q The Music. There were excuses for that effort, he was cramped for galloping room and as a result was eased by jockey Brandon Lerena at the 250m mark.
Although improvement can be expected, this Mark Dixon-trained six-year-old tends tends to be unreliable. This makes Graduate a worthy banker in samerace exotics.
Delpech could prove the man to follow, he also has winning chances aboard What A Moon in Race 1, Quakeshake in Race 4 and Border Control in the last – a win place All-To-Come could be ideal.
