Pirates still have bad memories at the hands of Ajax Cape Town

- By Gomolemo Motshwane ■

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has warned Ajax Cape Town that they have another thing coming if they think the Sea Robbers will walk into their trap again in the Nedbank Cup.

The Buccaneers suffered a 3-0 hammering at the hands of the Urban Warriors who set them up on the counter attack in their league win last week. Yannick Zakri grabbed a brace while Mosa Lesuba scored to secure the win for Ajax.

The two teams will face-off again in the R7-million first prize tournament at the Orlando Stadium tomorrow (8.15pm).

After Ajax rested Zakri and Lebusa in their 1-1 league draw against Polokwane City, Sredojevic says he has a plan to deal with them.

“We are ready for any way [they could play]. Having in mind how they played the last time it is a perception that they will approach it the same way,” Sredojevic said.

“In their last match they rested Zakri and Lebusa in order to come out as strong as possible against us. They are coming thinking that the other match was a true reflection of what happened on the field; we have [a] different opinion and we will show that on Saturday.

“It is not easy playing against a team playing in a reinforced defence in a way called parking the bus, so we will see.”

The former Uganda national team coach feels his team owes it to the supporters to redeem themselves after suffering humiliation in Cape Town.

“We expect to play a very good team. We are eager for the match to come and to heal the soul of our supporters. I do not feel any kind of grudges. Cup competition is completely different from the league.”

Micho is looking for his maiden title at Pirates in the first year of his second stint at the club.
