It’s time to start fixing all the wrongs in SA

-

I am so relieved Jacob Zuma has finally stepped down. Massive work to undo all the damage he has caused must start now. I don’t expect miracles.

My biggest wish is the creation of a conducive atmosphere where creative and innovative people can thrive. Cronyism under Zuma has dashed the dreams of many people who wanted to start small businesses.

We also need to go back to basics by appreciating skilled people who were sidelined. We must bring back all those people and ensure they contribute. Our young people are suffering.

The sooner we create opportunities and ensure they become employed and employable, the better. In the cabinet, it’s an open secret that there are ministers ripe for sacking.

There are people who have embarrassed not only themselves but the country as well. The cabinet must be trimmed urgently. People like [Gauteng education MEC] Panyaza Lesufi are doing wonders despite serious challenges and is needed at national parliament.

We also need to re-think whether we really need provinces as SA is not a federal state. All corrupt people and those who have defrauded the government and private sector should be arrested, tried and sentenced.

We need to deal ruthlessly with crime. Let’s take the war to criminals. Let’s look after our borders. There are too many illegal immigrants running around committing crime. We must declare war on drugs and human trafficking.

We must deal harshly with people who cause anarchy under the guise of protesting. People who damage roads, burn libraries and clinics should be arrested. Let’s recreate the peaceful and tolerant SA we all know. Richardson Mzaidume
