The clash between Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates was the pick of the Nedbank Cup last 16 draw last night.

The two teams will do battle in the R7-million cup competition after they were pitted against each other.

Rookie coach Benni McCarthy will face his former team after having eliminated Bidvest Wits in the last 32.

The other Premiership heavyweights received a kind

draw with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns drawing lower league sides in Stellenbosch and EC Bees respectively.

Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has a relatively easy path to the quarterfinals as he chases his first title at the club after three barren seasons.

The Buccaneers, on the other hand, will be looking to claim the Ke Yona competition after losing the final to SuperSport United.

Pirates defender Happy Jele admits that it will be interesting to take on his former teammate McCarthy in the clash.

“It’s the last cup available on offer in the season so we will give it our all. We won the cup before and it would be a boost for us to show that we are a new team now.”

City defender Vincent Kobola feels his team has done well against the big wigs and will turn up for the encounter.

“It would be a different story if we were playing them at the Orlando Stadium but now they are coming to us so it will be a major one for us. At home we play like a different team and able to bring on the flair,” Kobola said.

Chiefs utility player Joseph Molangoane said Amakhosi will continue to fight to get their maiden title under Komphela.

“We are focused on the job at hand. No matter who we are drawn against we have to make sure that we respect our opponents,” Molangoane said.

The dates for the last 16 games are yet to be announced.
