The 2018 Fifa World Cup trophy touched down in South Africa today from Mozambique. Before kicking off its global tour, the trophy travelled across Russia, the host country, for three months spanning 16 000km and visited 16 cities, making it the longest host country tour in history. The month-long tournament kicks off on June 14.

The tour began in Africa on February 22, starting with Sudan and will be staying on the continent and making an appearance in Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria until March 16, when it returns to Europe. “As football fans around the world gear up for the World Cup, we want to make sure they are ready for all the emotions that this global tournament will bring,” said Kelvin Balogun, president of Coca-Cola in Southern and East Africa.

“This is the fourth time in history that Coca-Cola and Fifa have come together to bring the trophy tour to the world.

The tour will give fans everywhere a taste of the excitement that’s to come, not to mention a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the actual trophy for themselves in Johannesburg as well as in Cape Town.” Coca-Cola will host fans for a trophy tour experience at Maponya Mall in Soweto tomorrow before heading to Cape Town’s PPC Newlands Cricket Ground on Saturday. Some of the other exciting activities that fans can expect include interaction with Zabivaka, the official World Cup 2018 Mascot, Fifa 18 gaming activities, and lots more entertainment. To continue celebrating all the vibrancy and excitement, CocaCola is inviting fans to a complimentary Coca-Cola concert with rapper Cassper Nyovest at the PPC Newlands Cricket Ground on Saturday, where Cassper will be performing the Fifa World Cup anthem for the very first time.

The concert will begin at 4pm until 9pm and tickets will be available at the Fifa World Cup trophy tour activation in Cape Town.
