Sundowns’ fringe stars to sting Bees

Brockie, Lebese itch for game time

- By Gomolemo Motshwane

The clash against EC Bees at Loftus Stadium at 7.30pm tonight provides the Mamelodi Sundowns technical team with a golden opportunity to inject some confidence into players who of late have been out of rotation.

Jeremy Brockie, George Lebese, Siyabonga Zulu and Lucky Mohomi top the list of players at the Brazilians who need to gain some traction.

Sundowns are the overwhelming favourites against the ABC Motsepe League side from Eastern Cape and could field a reshuffled team with coach Pitso Mosimane away in Morocco doing a Pro Licensing course.

Brockie has been desperate

● to open his scoring account after seven appearances. The striker has been dropped from the starting line-up in their last three games and a goal could do to lift his spirits.

With Percy Tau in hot form at the moment and his combination with Sibusiso Vilakazi proving fruitful, Brockie will have to do more to justify his selection in the team. Lebese is also in prime position

● to make his first start in 10 games after the club placed him on a weight loss programme.

A leaner Lebese made a substitute’s appearance in the 3-1 win over AmaZulu this month.

• Zulu has made one appearance,

● since his switch from Platinum Stars in January. The wing back has found that at Sundowns breaking into the team is tough. Mohomi recently returned

● from an ankle injury. The midfielder has dropped down the pecking order with Tiyani Mabunda and Oupa Manyisa the preferred starters.
