The Dazzler packs a nasty Left Hook

Over Sharing ready to leave maiden ranks

One positive for punters is there is a lot of value to be had at today’s competitive Vaal race meeting is, and that makes the BiPot and Pick 6 worth catching. Judging on form, both should pay rather handsomely so get on!

Race 7, a MR 90 Progress Handicap over 1700m appears a two-horse race between The Dazzler and Querari Viking.

The former makes most appeal. He was ring-rusty following a threemonth lay-off in his last effort but still caught the eye, beaten just 1.75 lengths into fifth by Soldier On in the Egoli Mile.

An inspiring performance if you consider Mike de Kock’s charge was also reported as making a respiratory noise in running.

The son of Mogok will strip a lot fitter today and should make massive improvement on that last run. He looks well weighted with just 54.5kg to carry and also has the advantage of having champion jockey Anthony Delpech on his back. He looks a worthy BiPot banker.

However, advice for Pick 6 players is not to leave out Querari Viking. For Quartets, float the pair with the small field.

Querari Viking has been the model of consistency, having only missed the first three once in his last seven outings. He carries 2kg less than the Dazzler and appears far better than his current merit rating of 75 might indicate.

The four-year-old gelding was beaten 2.05 lengths into second by My Favourite Brown last time and that form line has worked out beautifully with one winner already coming from that form line.

Left Hook looks a decent bet when he lines up in Race 10, a Maiden Plate over 1700m. The Joe Soma-trained gelding showed immense improvement in his latest effort when stepping up to 1600m, beaten 0.90 lengths into third by Nightwatchman.

He should relish the extra 100m today, plus all is in his favour. He tops the best-weighted column, is smartly draw at No 3 and gets the services Piere Strydom.

Robbie Sage-trained Over Sharing is the best bet on the card and, should lose his maiden tag when he runs in Race 1, a Maiden Juvenile plate over 1200m.

He wasn’t disgraced on debut when running on well to finish third, 2.75 lengths behind Affranchi. He was well clear of My Boi Caloi last time and should confirm superiority.

Swingers and Exactas featuring the pair appear the way to go in this race. They meet a modest field today – if anything is to beat them, it will be a first-timer so keep an eye on the betting.

?? GOLD CIRCLE ?? The Dazzler was in desperate need of the outing in his last run and should be fit enough to win Race 7 at the Vaal today. /
