Take a Heavenly Risk with The Rising Legend

Woodruff to score a double today

- By Racing Editor

There appear to be three good things at the Vaal today, making for a rather tempting TAB All-To-Come bet featuring Heavenly Risk in Race 2, The Rising Legend in Race 7 and Pick 6 banker No Mans Land in Race 8.

Heavenly Risk is a worthy BiPot banker in the first leg – Race 2, a Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1000m on the Inside track. He produced a noteworthy performance on debut when competing against a strong field of winners.

The Var colt wasn’t disgraced, beaten 4.50 lengths in third by SA Nursery hopeful Bold Eagle. Mike and Adam Azzie’s charge appears well above average and, with natural improvement, should have no trouble outrunning this modest field.

Roy Magner-trained Gone With The Wind has the right credentials to cause an upset. He is very honest and caught the eye over the course and distance in his latest effort – finishing 2.25 lengths behind Green Haze. The two-year-old son of Stagelight should confirm superiority over Scoop, having run about a length in front last time.

For Quartets float Heavenly Risk and Gone With The Wind with Scoop, Chailyn Boy, Pieces Of Gold and Text Me.

The Rising Legend could make his handicap debut a winning one when he runs in Race 7, a MR 74 Handicap over 1500m.

Geoff Woodruff ’s charge showed no signs of ring-rustiness when a gutsy 0.40-length victor in a race run over 1600m in his latest effort, defeating Agent Kay, despite losing a length at the start and having returned from a two-month lay-off.

The three-year-old son of Eightfold Path appears better than currently rated (78). He gets Gavin Lerena in the irons. For the Pick 6 add Savannah King and Tumbling Stream.

Woodruff also saddles No Mans Land in Race 8, a MR 66 Handicap over 1500m and the stable double is worth taking.

Oratorio gelding No Mans Land gets the in-form Marco van Rensburg in the irons and, on recent form, is a worthy banker in all bets. He sparked tremendous improvement when stepping up in class last time – running on strongly to finish 0.90 lengths in third behind Highway Eightyfive.

That form line has worked out exceptionally as it boasts three follow-up winners.

The best boxed Exacta to take is in Race 4, a FM 72 Handicap over 1200m – featuring Lunar Dancer and Forgimme.
