Bank on Cheyne and Seattle’s Splendour

Valentine’s Girl for an April win

- By Racing Editor

Today’s suggested bet is the BiPot at Fairview and, if you are in search of a banker, look no further than Alan Greeff-trained Seattle Splendour in the first leg – Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1000m on the Polytrack.

This consistent Sail From Seattle filly does well over the course and distance having run twice for two inspiring thirds – her best performances yet.

On form, Seattle Splendour should make light work of this modest seven-horse field despite jumping from a wide No 6 draw.

She is well weighted carrying 57.5kg and appears far better than her merit rating of 63.

The best Swinger and boxed Exacta bet to take is in Race 3, a FM Maiden Plate over 1200m featuring Keep It Green and Valentine’s Girl. Following three consecutive seconds, the Valentine’s Girl makes most appeal – she caught the eye on her Polytrack debut – finishing 5.25 lengths in second behind Searching in a 1600m contest.

Sharon Kotzen’s charge is speedy. If anything her last outing suggests that she will relish the 1200m trip. Plus she is smartly drawn at No 1.

Keep It Green is progressive and has produced a lethal turn of foot in her last two outings – beaten under three lengths into second place on both occasions. She tops the best weighted column and is well drawn at No 2.

For Quartets float her and Valentine’s Girl with as many as your budget allows.

Jockey Greg Cheyne makes for a tempting double to take – Varsity Cup in Race 5 and Mini Loushe in Race 7.

Varsity Cup is a Polytrack specialist and could prove one of the safest bets on the card when he contests a MR 88 Divided Handicap over 1000m.

His course and distance record is encouraging having run five times for three victories and a third. He has the class and ability to overcome a wide No 7 draw.

Mini Loushe should be good value for money in Race 7, a MR 66 Handicap over 1300m. He is better than his last outing suggests, however, ring-rustiness is of concern as he returns from a 70-day stint off the racetrack.

His wide No 9 draw shouldn’t raise too many red flags considering he was a 0.75-length victor one run back over the course and distance despite jumping from a wide draw.

For Quartets float him and Zaida with as many runners as your budget allows.
