Mr Motaung, please fix Chiefs’ problems urgently

-

Dear Kaizer Motaung

I write to you about the gloomy and dire situation at Kaizer Chiefs.

I strongly believe that the reason the team did not win any silverware for three seasons under head coach Steve Komphela is your own doing. His mistake was accepting the job. It was a poisoned chalice. You hung him to dry.

With all due respect Mr Motaung, you are the big elephant in the room. Fans unjustly directed their rage at Komphela yet the problem is your policy of buying sub-standard players.

You have repeatedly said that you are reluctant to participate in what you labelled an “artificial” transfer market where agents inflate prices whenever Chiefs show interest in a player.

After Stuart Baxter left you decided to gamble with low-quality players and gave the team to Komphela whom you knew was desperate to coach Chiefs.

Mr Motaung, you are a very knowledgeable soccer administrator and you have played the game at the highest level. So, I know that you decided to save money at the expense of the team and the supporters.

Chiefs fans have followed the “love and peace” slogan to the letter. I am not condoning their recent unruly behaviour; they are clearly agitated.

As the new PSL season approaches, I beg you, on behalf of the distressed Chiefs fans, to go boldly into the transfer market and buy quality players and hire a coach who will take the team back to its glory days.
