All to play for in finale
Arrows, Chippa must hold firm
The Absa Premiership curtain closes on Saturday to bring finality to a roller-coaster season that was characterised by narrow point margins between teams.
While champions Mamelodi Sundowns and runners-up Orlando Pirates have secured their CAF Champions League places, berths for the Confederation Cup are still up for grabs.
It is a battle between Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United for a third-place finish and qualification for the secondtier continental club competition. The Team of Choice are eyeing their maiden Confed Cup ticket.
Meanwhile, nothing is certain about the fight for a top eight finish. In fact, just two places remain for the lucrative MTN8 spots next season. Golden Arrows and Chippa United must win their remaining fixtures to make the cut.
In the bottom segment, anyone between Ajax, SuperSport United, Polokwane City and Baroka could slip into the dreaded PSL promotional/relegation playoffs.
The team that finishes 15th will join National First Division runners-up Jomo Cosmos and Black Leopards in a minileague starting on May 16.
An encounter that could go a long way in deciding who goes to the playoffs will be between SuperSport and Baroka at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
