EFF fires its secretary

Mpumalanga cadre to fight expulsion

- By Mandla Khoza

The EFF has expelled its secretary in Mpumalanga after he was charged with doing shoddy work in the province.

Alfred Skhosana said yesterday that he first learnt of his expulsion on social media, even before a letter was sent to him on Sunday. In a letter dated May 5, EFF secretarygeneral Godrich Gardee said Skhosana had 21 days to appeal his expulsion.

“This is utter nonsense, I got aware of the letter on social media before an e-mail was sent to me. This is not a surprise because during my disciplinary hearing, CIC Julius Malema told me I have no future in the EFF, so [I am not] surprised,” Skhosana said.

He said the case was informed by his plan to contest against current chairman in the province, Collen Sedibe, in the upcoming conference.

Skhosana, whose MPL position is now vacant, said he would challenge the decision.

He is, however, no stranger to controversy following his earlier suspension – which was later lifted – after failing to pay his party levy, which all members pay even after being deployed in government.

Thirteen EFF councillors from different municipalities in Mpumalanga are facing different charges. “... The councillors have not been suspended yet, and their charges come after some failed to pay party levy of 10% and some [for] not doing party work,” said Sedibe.
