Errol Spence Jr to rule in IBF welterweight clash

-

Errol Spence Jr. returns to the ring for the second time this year in the early hours of Sunday morning (SA time) to defend his IBF Welterweight Championship against mandatory challenger Carlos Ocampo (22-0, 13 KOs). In January, Spence (23-0, 20 KOs) made his first title defence, dominating Lamont Peterson from the outset before winning by seventh-round TKO. After calling out unified champion Keith Thurman to no avail, Spence has decided to give back to the fans and defend the belt in his home state. One of these boxers will leave Texas with their first loss and looking the fight, it is unlikely to be Spence Jr. as Ocampo hasn't fought anyone near the calibre of "The Truth," who's faced some of the best in the world in this weight division. In fact, it's hard to justify the bout when Ocampo has never faced one in the top 15 of the IBF rankings. This clash, the featured Fight 1 fixture this weekend, will be the first time Ocampo has actually competed in the United States, having fought exclusively from his home in Mexico. Super Bantamweight World Champion Daniel Roman defends his belt against unbeaten Moises “Chucky” Flores (F4) on the undercard. Neither has reverse in their gearbox so this fight should make for good viewing! IN RUGBY the Boks delivered a rearguard action at Ellis Park to snare the spoils in the first of three Tests against England. Tactical naivety on defence cost the Boks early on but Rassie Erasmus’ men will be better in the Free State this weekend. While this young Bok side will draw huge confidence from their win at Ellis Park, England will have influential lock Joe Launchbury back and he’s sure to make his presence felt. Expect this match to be another breathless high-scoring encounter. which a confident Springbok-outfit should edge again. This Test, M2 in this weekend’s Rugby 5, is also the featured Rugby 1 fixture. On the Rugby 5 card, Argentina and Wales meet in South America. Los Pumas made most of the running in the first Test they conceded possession at crucial times which the Dragons capitalised on.
