Winger Lyle Lakay has made a switch from Cape Town City to Mamelodi Sundowns, the league champions confirmed last night.

“Lyle finally puts pen to paper! Let’s welcome him home Masandawana,” Sundowns announced on their official Twitter account.

The Citizens let go of Lakay after snapping up Gift Links, who is a direct replacement, from Egyptian side Pyramids.

Lakay’s arrival at Chloorkop takes Sundowns’ signings tally to six after the acquisition of Toni Silva, Katlego Otladisa, Andile Jali, Jose Ali Meza and Tristan Moses.

Sundowns welcomed 20year-old Moses, a centre-back, after his contract with Kaizer Chiefs expired last month.

Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates are still looking at Brazilian defender Caio Marcelo, who has featured in their friendlies. He’s from Vasco da Gama and he’s accompanied by a goalkeeper named Pepe.

Former Platinum Stars marksman Maboke Matlakala is expected to sign for Free State Stars but the two parties are still in negotiations.

Sowetan also understands that experienced defender Thabiso Semenya, 35, could land a deal with PSL newcomers Black Leopards, while another defender Lehlohonolo Nonyane is tipped to join Bidvest Wits following his departure from Golden Arrows.

Veteran defender Vuyo Mere, 34, has also been training with the Clever Boys hoping to land a deal after leaving relegated Platinum Stars.

Swazi winger Justice Figuareido has also impressed at Maritzburg United and his club, Manzini Sundowns, claim a deal is imminent.

Meanwhile, former Tottenham Hotspur defender Bongani Khumalo has left Wits and is training with his old club, SuperSport United.
