Nodada aims for next level

Player wants to polish his game

Despite having been named their best player last season, Cape Town City midfielder Thabo Nodada feels he can still take his game to the next level.

The 23-year-old had his break-out season in the previous campaign that culminated in his winning the award of best player at their awards ceremony in May.

Nodada is not getting ahead of himself as he looks to become even better.

“It’s about keeping to the same things and improving on the things I was already doing well,” Nodada said.

“But it’s not about making a complete change of the way I play; I just have to polish the things that let me down.”

The Citizens’ previous campaign, which was coach Benni McCarthy’s first, was a nearmiss as they finished runnersup in the MTN8 and fifth in the Premiership.

On the influence of McCarthy, he said: “He has taught me a lot of self-arrogance and to believe in my abilities. Coach Benni is a passionate person and expects a lot from his players.”

City are a metropolitan club with players from all over the continent and overseas, including Kouassi Kouadja from Ivory Coast, Edmilson Dove (Mozambique), Nana AkosahBempah (USA) and Masoud Juma (Kenya).

Nodada feels that this works to the advantage of the club as they can play different styles of football.
