Pule committed to Sea Robbers

Winger forgets about Chiefs

- By Gomolemo Motshwane

Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule has put his botched move to Kaizer Chiefs behind him with the attacker not wanting to entertain any talk of the Naturena club.

Pule made the shock switch from Bidvest Wits to the Buccaneers after having being intensely linked with Chiefs.

It was even alleged that Pule had signed a pre-contract agreement with Amakhosi earlier in the year.

The 26-year-old is squarely focused on his future with Pirates. “As I have told the other guys, no comment on that. I am a Pirates player now,” Pule insisted.

“Pirates is a big team and big brand. Coming here you have to perform every day. As a player you will grow by being at this club. As a player you have to work hard. I try to train as if it is my last day.”

In their second season under coach Milutin Sredojevic and Rulani Mokwena, the Sea Robbers will be expected to deliver silverware. They have invested heavily in players and in strengthening the technical team. Bucs will host Highlands Park in their league opener at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

After finishing second and losing the league title by five points to Mamelodi Sundowns last season, Sredojevic expressed confidence that the club will do better this time around.

With many seeing the title race as a battle between Pirates and Sundowns, the Serbian tactician played down Bucs’ chances.

“With the highest degree of respect to Sundowns, we have no time to worry about anyone other than ourselves,” Sredojevic said.
